If you are new to our practice, you’ve come to the right place!
Below contains all the information that you will need to make your first appointment as easy as possible.
During your first visit, our aim is to ensure you’re in the right place and to explore how we can be of assistance to you in a friendly and professional manner. We promise to:
What can I expect during my initial visit?
Upon booking your appointment, you will receive a confirmation email with a New Patient form to complete. We recommend having this completed before arriving to your appointment.
When you arrive at My Sports Chiropractor Kingsgrove you will be welcomed by our friendly admin team.
Next you will meet your treating therapist who will discuss with you the reason for your visit and how best they can assist you.
You will be welcomed into the treatment room where a comprehensive evaluation of your health background will be conducted, followed by a thorough physical examination to achieve the most accurate diagnosis.
Your first consultation may take anywhere between 40-45minutes.
If we determine that our assistance may not be suitable for your situation, or if our examination uncovers any other potential concerns, we will kindly guide you to the appropriate resources and support. We will liaise with your GP on your behalf to ensure we co-manage throughout.

What should I bring to my first visit?
We recommend for all first time patient’s to our practice to bring the following:
- Previous X-rays, MRI’s, Ultrasounds or any relevant imaging that will be useful for your therapist.
- Comfortable clothing i.e gym or active wear. We recommend avoid wearing jeans to your first visit.
- Bring your private health insurance card if you have private health cover.
Will I get treated on my first visit?
Naturally If you are in pain then you will want to start treatment. In most cases, it is safe and appropriate to start treatment on your first visit.
Rarely, the situation calls for an X-ray, or an MRI scan, or blood tests first. However we will explain all of this to you and will only order these tests if they are truly necessary.
Our chiropractors are very experienced and will do everything they can to help you as quickly as possible and provide you with an accurate diagnosis in order to provide the best management for your injury.
Can I claim on my private health insurance or Medicare?
We accept all private health funds. We have a HICAPS terminal on our premises making claiming convenient and easy. All you need to do is bring your private health insurance card and pay the remaining difference (if any).
If you have been referred by your GP under the Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDM) then you are able to claim a portion of your appointment fees from Medicare (up to a maximum of 5 visits per year). You will need to speak with your GP about eligibility criteria.
We also accept Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA) referrals, Workers Compensation Claims and CTP insurance claims. Your are welcome to contact our practice to discuss these claims further.
Do I need a referral from my GP or specialist?
No. Many patients are sent to our practice by their GP and a referral is not essential. My Sports Chiropractor Kingsgrove is always available to collaborate with your general practitioner (if required) to ensure that you get the best care possible.
How do I make my first appointment?

Once you have made a booking, our friendly receptionist will contact you the day before to remind you of your appointment and you will receive a confirmation email providing you with all details related to your appointment including our practice address, parking and how to find us.
